Parental Controls

Filters and parental controls may not be the complete answer to keeping children safe online, but they are undoubtedly the first line of defence. It's now possible to set filters on your broadband, your devices and your applications. Here, from Internet Matters, is what you need to know.

 

PARENT INFO

 

Parent Info is a collaboration between Parent Zone and NCA-CEOP, providing support and guidance for parents from leading experts and organisations. It provides information on social media, gaming and many other areas.

 

Mobile Devices

 

 

Many children have or have access to a mobile smartphone. Apps such as Snapchat, Whatsapp, Instagram and many more, are becoming a common daily interaction for children. They can be brilliant, but you need to know more about them.

      • Childnet Childnet provides key advice, information on reporting and detailed information on a range of e-safety topics.
      • CEOP CEOP is the place to go if you need advice or help over anything you feel uncomfortable with.
      • Net Aware A partnership between NSPCC and O2, Net Aware is the most comprehensive source of information about the social media platforms children use
      • NSPCC It can be hard to know how to talk to your child about online safety. From setting up parental controls to advice on sexting, online games and video apps, the NSPCC can help you to understand the risks and keep your child safe.
      • Internet Matters InternetMatters.org - a not-for-profit organisation that has a simple purpose – to help keep children safe in the digital world.
      • CyberSmile Pre-Teen CyberSmile Pre-Teen provide a whole host of Cyberbullying resources for parents, including direct support and a parent information pack.
      • UK Safer Internet Centre UK Safer Internet Centre provides parents and carers with tips, advice, guides and resources to help keep your child safe online. What can parents and carers do to help with trust online?
