Information for parents: National Curriculum tests at the end of key stages 1 and 2

Children at the end of year 2 (KS1 SATs) and year 6 (KS2 SATs) take part in national tests. In June, children in year 1 undertake a phonic screening programme.

These tests are an opportunity to:

• Assess children’s learning so that we enable children to master the basics in English and mathematics;
• Identify pupils who may need additional support so that we ensure support is put in place as early as possible.
